6 days in Beijing: some tips

We booked all accommodations and one day journey to the Great Wall.

We lived in Novotel on the first 3 days and the address:

1 Chongwenmen W St, Dongcheng, Beijing, China, 100005

We took No 1 airport bus from the airport to Beijing South railway station which is the terminal station. Then walked 15 mins to Novotel:

Then we travelled to Dashilan ( 大栅栏) via bus 673 or 9,  if you have Baidu map, you can easily find the way to Da Shi Lan:

Address: Dashilan Commercial St, Xicheng, Beijing, China

There are lots of Chinese snacks in that area.

Not far away is the famous 'Tian An Men Square'.  Usually there will be long Queue and security check, bring your passport with you and all sharp items are not allowed in that area.

We went to Bian Yi Fang ( 便宜坊) at night, which is opposite to Novotel and just 5-10 walking distance from where we were living.Peking duck is recommended, we took half a duck and costed 256 RMB.

Then enjoy the night scenes.

Day 2:
Taking number 103 bus, we went to Gu Gong ( 故宫 ), the ticket booth is located in the southern gate, and we arrived there before 8:30am, there was already a long queue. Still passport is required to buy an entry ticket.

We spent the whole day.

Day 3:

We booked a one day trip service to the Great Wall on ctrip, the guider contacted us with text and asked us to the assemble point. This is quite convenient for us, because we won't worry about transportation, tickets, food. There are some stories of Great Wall in Qin Dynasty. You can search Mei Jiang Nv on google for the story.

Day 4:

We moved to "Beijing Houhai Courtyard Inn" (北京悦宾阁四合院客栈), which is closer to where Tian Tan and Hu Guo Temple we planned to visit.

It is a traditional Chinese Siheyuan, for more information:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siheyuan

The boss is very friendly and likes to chat with guests.

There is bus 120 going from Hu Guo Si to Tian Tan South Gate, we bought tickets there in the afternoon, there were less people there in Tian Tan. 2-3 hours walk should be enough for Tian Tan.

There were many restaurant in Hu Gu Si near our accommodation.

Day 5:

Summer Palace ( 颐和园 )is a MUST GO place in Beijing.

We rented a small pedal boat in Kun ming Lake.

Entering via eastern gate and exiting from northern gate, just relax and enjoy the harmonious atmosphere and aesthetic view of this royal garden.

Day 6:

Setting off from Beijing south railway station, travelling by high speed train, which is really the fastest train I have ever taken. We booked and made the payment while in Australia to secure the tickets, then collected them with passports in Beijing West railway station, which is closer to Novotel, about half an hour walking distance.
